Colleen Hennessey Clayworks

Colleen throws every bowl by hand on the wheel. Throwing is her favorite part of the process. Each bowl is unique and one-of-a-kind, even when they are part of a pair or a set. Colleen also makes the plates and platters, one at a time, on "hump" molds.

We fire our ceramics in a gas kiln, to "Cone 10" (over 2300 degrees fahrenheit). High-fired stoneware is exceptionally durable and strong. All of the wares are food safe and can be put in the dishwasher or microwave. The wares can be put in the oven to heat, but we don't recommend cooking them at high temperature in the oven, because of the staining that will result.
